Meet Joanna Lima

“When was the last time you told your story? It is the telling that heals...the story tells us and saves us.” – Mark Nepo, The Book of Awakening

Joanna believes in the power of storytelling as a path to healing. She provides a safe, brave space where you can share and explore your experiences, helping you uncover the strength within your story.

Collaboration is key in Joanna’s approach to therapy. In the short term, she will work with you to develop effective strategies for managing stress and overcoming challenges. In the long term, she will support you in creating a life that feels fulfilling and authentic to you.

Joanna listens closely to the language you use, attuning to your inherent strengths and resilience. She believes that human connection and relationships form the foundation for healing and growth. Joanna has a particular interest in helping clients with anxiety, depression, post-traumatic growth, life transitions, and the exploration of complex, intersectional identities.

Beyond the Therapy Room

Joanna’s life experience, shaped by transracial adoption, Navy family life, and invisible disabilities, brings a unique perspective to her work. She understands that resilience and adaptation are key to navigating life’s challenges. With a background in Religious Studies and Library Science, and past careers as a high school teacher and librarian, Joanna’s love for learning informs her work in therapy. She’s committed to discovering how she can best support you on your journey toward healing and growth.
